Keep it Classy

Let's talk about wine, or booze in general, and the holidays here for a minute. Its been on my mind ever since I was recently disturbed when I made a beeline for the cutest plaid sweatshirt in the history of plaid sweatshirts. The race wasn't worth it, because when I flipped it around to see the front of it, I lost interest very quickly.

You get it right? Distatesful if you ask me but since you didn't I just want to take a moment to tell you something. Things like this are offensive to me. I had a drinking problem that ruined quite a few holidays but besides that reason, there are a few more.

This is not what the holiday season is about, at all. The people that made this sweatshirt want you to think it is. Hey, It's fun to drink at all things holiday gathering! You won't have a good time without it! C'mon its the season to drink!

None of the above are true.

Can I ask something of you this month? Please don't support this kind of message. It's not funny to me or anyone else that has been hurt by addiction. I guarantee that the holidays have a few memories for a lot of us that were not so pleasant, because of addiction.

I challenge you instead to think about the real reason we are celebrating this month. We celebrate the baby that was born to save us from ourselves. What about that says " have another?"

Absolutely nothing.

Matthew 1:21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus because he will save his people from their sins."

I created the She Surrenders Community because it’s what I longed for during my own journey—a space for Christian women to find connection and support from others who understand. My prayer is that this community blesses you as deeply as it has blessed me.
