True Story

What if it's True?

What if what's true?

The Christmas story we celebrate every year

About a pregnant virgin

A baby born in a manager

The child who was born to die

The Savior born to die a brutal death

On a cross

To save us from our sins

Who rose from the dead

So we can live in eternity with Him

That when we die, life does not end

Eternal life begins

And that's the short version of the story.

What if it's true?

Why am I asking you this question? I had a humbling moment in my devotions this morning as I was praying about a situation in my life. Was I praying earnestly? Believing in the God of miracles that has the power to do anything in our lives we could ask or imagine to remedy this puzzle in my life?

So, the short answer is no, not really. While praying for this, riding tandem in my thoughts was the to-do list for today in my mind.

Do I believe the above paragraph about who he is?

Yes.

Then what is the problem here? I believe that

somewhere there is a disconnect. The power of His story gets lost more and more every year. We get caught up in the main course of Christmas, the craziness of gifts, food, and family gatherings.

with a side of a baby born in a manager.

Again, see Luke 2 for more information.

Think about the anticipation of a birthday party for you. A celebration you have every reason to believe will be fantastic and all about you. Then, at your party people gave each other gifts instead of you. They brought their favorite foods and even brought pie instead of cake for dessert. You wanted cake. You expected cake. With Candles.

The porch is decorated, and there is a welcome banner in the yard that says Happy Birthday to

You, but the celebration says otherwise.

Except for an initial reference at the beginning of the party, your name is not heard again.

Celebrating you, the guest of honor got lost in the preparations and the actual event itself. You are sad that this event to celebrate you has turned into a gathering where you are barely acknowledged. Welcome to Christmas 2021.

I can't help but think that this is how Jesus must feel when we forget that he is the guest of honor at Christmas.

If we are losing Him so quickly at Christmas, where else are we not acknowledging his power in our lives?

To heal, to renew, and to redeem us from our sins. Why are we not inviting him to celebrate the victories only he can bring us to?

Short answer. We are human and sinful in nature. That's not an excuse though, you can still make it right.

I invite you to pray, believing in the God that can save you from whatever you are hurting from. Put your faith in Him instead of a date on the calendar that you are going to start anew and leave behind the hurtful habits you've been carrying around with you for way too long.

Faith will set you free. How do we know this?

Because.

The Christmas story we celebrate every year

About a pregnant virgin

A baby born in a manager

The child who was born to die

The Savior born to die a brutal death

On a cross

To save us from our sins

Who rose from the dead

So we can live in eternity with Him

That when we die, life does not end

Eternal life begins

You can't make this stuff up. It's been documented.

Again, see Luke 2.

Celebrate His birth, all that he sacrificed for you, and all He will bring you to. That, my friend, is where the true joy in Christmas can be found.
