Get Out of Hell

This is kind of a heavy post. I get that this post is not for everyone, but I do ask that you take a moment to read it. Ask yourself if there is anyone on your heart this might be intended for. That is why I wrote it; I have some people on my heart. It might be the saving grace someone is looking for today.

Dear Friend,

I am so very sorry for the grief alcohol has been causing you. I want you to know you are on my heart, and I pray every single day that this is the day that you will get out.

It's hard to fathom, isn't it? Getting out. You've spent this week listening to the voices in your head that keep telling you how much you screwed up this past weekend. Again. Will this weekend be any different?

Maybe you are upset because you keep replaying the conversation with the friend or family member that's expressed concern over your drinking. You are so angry with them, but deep down, you know that you're mad at yourself.

How many days this week have you dealt with the same hangover that you swore would never happen again?

Did you promise yourself you would not drink today? But as the afternoon wears on, you are considering it again and hating yourself for it?

Have you been awake since 3:00 am wondering why you always wake up full of anxiety?

Am I spot on?

I can relate to every single one of these things and more. I have been there, and I stayed there way longer than I should've.

The good news is that you don't have to stay there. It's time to ask for help with your trainwreck life.

How many times haven't you said you could do better?

This is not a loner disease; it just wants you to believe that no one else has done these things. To keep you in a place of shame that is darker than anywhere you have ever been.

You can overcome this.

You have to want to do this, though. No one can help you unless you decide you want out.

I am praying for you today.

There is a get out of hell free card with your name on it.

If you choose not to use it, your only other option is to keep adding to the list.

The list can be endless, or it can just end.

End it today. Could you message me? Tell a friend? Talk to your spouse?

Get out of Hell; it's free. He already paid the price. Use it.

I will never regret it, and neither will you,

Praying for Peace,

Sherry
